25th Anniversary of the Re-opening of Standedge Tunnel

We will have an exhibition stand at this exciting event which will include canal boat trips, a wide variety of exhibition stands and various things for all the family to be involved in.  We will have a display of research into the appalling Black Flood of 1810 when a reservoir above the canal broke its bank and torrents descended down the hillside killing at least six people.  We have also investigated the lives of some of the men who worked on building the tunnel which runs through the Pennines and is the highest waterway in the UK.  Park at the Marsden Railway Station car park and either walk to the event or travel on the shuttle canal boat.
