Alde Valley Suffolk Family History Group

On 19th October three of our members will give short talks about their research into the lives of their ancestors

Jean Laidlaw will talk about Samuel James Robert Legerton who was the first coxswain of the Lifeboat at Clacton. He received medals from R.N.L.I. and was honoured by the French government.

Janet Huckle will tell us about "Soldier, General, Policeman" - three people in her research. She will tell how researching an old newspaper cutting led to a story of heroic action by a family member on May 10/11 1941.

John Deans will talk about Alfred Francis Edward who died in Eritrea during the war and how John managed to obtain images of his final resting place.

These talks will take place on Monday 19th October at 2.30pm, in person at the Fromus Centre, Street Farm Road, Saxmundham, IP17 1AL (behind the Library) and, for members only, on Zoom. The speakers will be talking to us in person. The talks start at 2.30pm. No need to book – just turn up — free for members and £5.00 for visitors, including refreshments. Good, free car-parking. Only members can take part in our meetings on Zoom, but it only costs £10 for a year's membership – see  https://www.avsfhg.org.uk/join-us?section=register  and Zooming is free.
