Heather Garnsey will take a deep dive into researching the Parish Registers including looking at the history and format of Parish Registers, where to find source information and other finding aids, as well as give some hints and tips to get the most out of this valuable resource.
Annesley Watson will present tips about preparing yourself to transcribe an older document you have found difficult to read. In addition, she will provide a selection of useful references that will contain "ready reckoner" tables for alphabets and numbers in different historical writing styles (or "hands") as well many other very useful explanations of old words, abbreviations and Latin terms and phrases.
Diana Pecar will look at why the world’s calendars changed (Julian/Gregorian Calendars) - how it might affect your research, not only in England but in all parts of the world, and how you record what you find. There will also be a brief Latin language lesson to help your research when you get really deep into those Parish Registers!
There will be a recording and handouts available after the meeting to all those who book.
Suitable for beginners to experienced researchers, there will be a bit for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you.
