Chris’s talk “Family history from military records” will explore the types of records that can be found and where they are, and in particular draw out the areas where a family historian can find information that may be hard to locate through any other route.

Chris Baker is the author of The Long, Long Trail website on the British Army in the Great War. A former chairman of the Western Front Association, he has been researching soldiers for private clients, the media, various institutions and for his own books since 2002. He is a regular contributor to the “Who do you think you are?” series for television, with many of his studies having reached the screen. Chris lives in Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. Before concentrating on history work, he was a Chartered Manufacturing Engineer. He has Masters in both Science and Art subjects from the University of Birmingham and is a Member of the Royal Historical Society.
