'Life in the Victorian Workhouse' a Talk by Luke Mouland

Dorset Family History Society will be hosting a meeting at Treetops Research Centre, Suite 5 Stanley House, 3 Fleets Lane, POOLE, Dorset, BH15 3AJ with a talk by LUKE MOULAND entitled ‘LIFE IN THE VICTORIAN WORKHOUSE’.

Luke Mouland is a freelance genealogist, researcher and speaker based in North Dorset. During the last 15 years, he has undertaken research projects for a range of clients, including probate solicitors, authors, and the BBC’s hit TV series, ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’

This talk is about life on the Parish. Most of us have ancestors who were unfortunate enough to experience hard times and had no other choice but to turn to the Parish for assistance whether inside the workhouse or for temporary outside relief. Many were born inside the workhouse and many died there.


Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Plenty of free parking.

Entry is £3 to include tea/coffee and biscuits available up to 7.25pm.
