On Monday 25 November there will be a Bath Group meeting and talk entitled “The Beckfords: Bath and beyond” by Dr Amy Frost.
Through four generations, the Beckford family amassed a huge fortune through their involvement with transatlantic slavery. This talk will explore the Beckford’s, revealing how Peter Beckford in 1661 started a business that would lead to his great grandson William building Beckford’s Tower in Bath, recently reopened following a major National Lottery Heritage Fund supported conservation project.
